EASTERN EUROPE
Eastern Europe is composed of: Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia and Ukraine, all shown on the map in ocher (yellowish-brown). Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are often referred to as the Baltics since their western border is the Baltic Sea. All of these countries were part of the USSR before its breakup. Now they are all independent countries. It is fair to say that Russia is less than pleased with this and is always putting pressure on them to adhere to Moscow's wishes.
