WHAT IS THERE TO CELEBRATE ON THIS 4TH?

Maybe we are just being party-poopers, but we do not see much to celebrate on this Independence Day. The whole idea of this holiday was to celebrate our independence from an oppressive government. So what do we have in place of the original oppressive government in Britain? Are we any freer now than we were in 1776? We think not. A lot of us want to blame this on just having elected the most left wing government in the history of this country. That has not helped any since the left wing sees the solutions to all problems as more government control, not less. However, it is far deeper than that because what we have is a total break down of effective government from top to bottom and you cannot blame all of that on President Obama and a Democratic Congress.

Even in staunchly Republican areas, we see more and more oppressive and inefficient government. At the school district level, we see the most expensive baby sitting service in the world but not a system of education. It is not the fault of the students because they are not suddenly a stupid bunch but they sure are an ignorant one. A graduating high school student is hopelessly underskilled in just about any area you came to name. How about city government? How many of these have traffic cameras all over the place, both fixed and mobile?

Then there is our system of injustice where with the right lawyer you can actually get away with murder. Of course, if you cannot afford one, then you are in a world of hurt. We pride ourselves on having a system of laws and not men (or women). We all know that is nothing but propaganda. The law is what five of nine people in Washington decide it is. This system of injustice extends all the way down to the county court level and it does not matter whether the county is in a red state or a blue one.

The people of this country have decided that government is the solution to all of our problems and have voted accordingly. This flies in the face of the clear fact that government screws up beyond belief everything it touches. Whenever government gets involved in solving a problem, the problem inevitably gets worse. Name one thing the government has ever done right. Well, how about social security? If the social security system was being run by a private company, all of its officers would be in jail for running an actuarially unsound system based on a Ponzi scheme. So having screwed that up and made a total disaster of Medicare, our solution is to turn the whole health care system over to the government? Having finally won the cold war because the communist system was hopelessly flawed, we now adopt that failed system and turn several parts of our economic system over to the government?

No, my friends, we find nothing to celebrate on this 4th of July. We are saddled with a system of government that is as oppressive as the British government ever was. This is no longer a free country. We as a people are too stupid to make our own decisions so we have some appointed government bureaucrat to make them for us. Doctors are too incompetent to practice medicine so some clerk in the government with no medical training will tell them how to do it right. This is beyond stupid, it is just plain totally insane. We cannot in good conscience wish you a happy 4th of July when we see nothing to be happy about where our freedom is concerned. Anyone for a healthy dose of anarchy? No government has to be better than these sorry excuses for one.
